چکیده

Takayasu's arteritis (TA) is a chronic inflammatory disease of unknown cause. Stroke as a initial presentations without any systemic symptoms are rare. We had two cases of Takayasu's arteritis whose initial presentation were stroke without any significant systemic symptoms. So early detection and initiation of treatment lessens the chance of progression of disease and involvement of other organ system.

F-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography for the diagnosis of Takayasu's arteritis in stroke: a case report

INTRODUCTION Diagnosis of Takayasu's arteritis as the cause of stroke is often delayed because of non-specific clinical presentation. F-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography may help to accurately diagnose and monitor Takayasu's arteritis in stroke patients. CASE PRESENTATION We report the case of a left middle cerebral artery stroke in a 39-year-old man. Labo...

The acute diagnosis of Takayasu's arteritis based on helical CT angiography of the chest and neck in the emergency room.

Recently, a young woman presented acutely with a left hemispheric stroke and differing blood pressures in the arms as her initial manifestation of Takayasu's arteritis. Helical CT angiography, performed to rule out aortic dissection, revealed a thickened wall of the aortic arch with stenoses and occlusions of the great vessels, suggesting the diagnosis. The sequence of imaging studies and findi...

Altered cerebral hemodynamics and metabolism in Takayasu's arteritis with neurological deficits.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Takayasu's arteritis is a nonspecific arteritis involving major cerebral arteries. The aim of our study is to examine cerebral hemodynamics and metabolism in Takayasu's arteritis with neurologic symptoms. METHODS We measured cerebral blood flow and metabolism using positron emission tomography in seven patients (14 to 59 years of age) with Takayasu's arteritis who devel...
